NJPW hosted another night of Super Jr. Tag League action in Niigata, with the B Block taking the spotlight. Following this event’s results, three teams from B Block are still in contention to proceed to the tournament finals.
The night’s first taste of tournament competition saw KUSHIDA and Yuki Yoshioka take on Yoshinobu Kanemaru and Dick Togo. KUSHIDA and Yoshioka managed to keep their names in the mix for block winners with a win. That was their third victory of the tournament, placing them on 6 points.
Next, the Ichiban Sweet Boys, Robbie Eagles and Kosei Fujita, looked to keep their undefeated tournament run going as they met Tiger Mask and YAMATO. Eagles and Fujita managed to just that, taking their total to 8 points after 4 wins in a row. The remain the only team in B Block to have won every one of their round robin matches.
The main event saw the BULLET CLUB representatives Taiji Ishimori and Robbie X battling to keep their tournament going. They entered the event Niigata on a 2-1 record, just like KUSHIDA and Yoshioka. The War Dogs took on El Desperado and KUUKAI, a team that were already mathematically eliminated. Ishimori and X emerged victorious, snagging the points and becoming the third team to keep their hopes alive heading into the final night of B Block on Friday, October 31st.
Eagles and Fujita will meet Ishimori and X on that night. A win for the Ichiban Sweet Boys would crown them as block winners. A BULLET CLUB win would tie the two teams on points, but with BULLET CLUB holding the tie breaker victory. KUSHIDA and Yoshioka are also in the running. If they defeat El Desperado and KUUKAI, and BULLET CLUB defeat the Ichiban Sweet Boys, then KUSHIDA and Yoshiaka would advance to the finals thanks to their win over Ishimori and X earlier in the tournament.
