Big Japan Pro-Wrestling announced today that rising star Koshiro Asakura will be out of action for at least one year due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus.
Asakura suffered the injury on July 27th at Korakuen Hall when he faced super-heavyweight Ryota Hama. While not confirmed, the injury appeared to have occurred when Asakura attempted to bodyslam the nearly 500 pound Hama. Asakura’s knee clearly buckled during the bodyslam attempt.

While he may be down and out, Asakura posted on X that he will remain in good spirits and will not give up.
From Koshiro Asakura:
“The doctor diagnosed me today. I have a torn anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus. It will take about a year for me to recover.
However, even though my ligament is torn, my spirit is not! Giving up on professional wrestling is not an option! From this day forward, I will move forward step by step with the aim of returning. Let’s get motivated”
Asakura debuted for BJW in Nov. 2024 when he faced Yuya Aoki in an exhibition match. He has been labeled a super rookie for the promotion.
The entire staff at Monthly Puroresu wishes a speedy recovery for Koshiro Asakura and looks forward to seeing him back inside a BJW ring.
