The storied and legendary career of Hiroshi Tanahashi came to an emotional end at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 20 on Jan. 4th at a sold out crowd of over 46,000 fans at the Tokyo Dome.
On Jan. 4th, New Japan Pro-Wrestling held it’s biggest event of the year Wrestle Kingdom 20 with a sold out crowd of 46, 913 on hand for the show.
TJPW held their annual Tokyo Joshi Pro event in a packed Korakuen Hall, filling the top of the card with some big title matches. Miu Watanabe bested the challenging Suzume to keep her reign as Princess of Princess Title in tact, whilst MIRAI was crowned as the new International Princess Champion.
The past year had been counting down to this, WRESTLE KINGDOM 20 and the retirement of The Ace of the Universe, Hiroshi Tanahashi. Taking place in a sold out Tokyo Dome, Tanahashi went to war with Kazuchika Okada one last time to close out his legendary career.
The All Japan Pro-Wrestling NEW YEAR WAR 2026 tour continued on Jan 3rd as 1,205 fans filled Korakuen Hall for the event.
STARDOM kicked off their 2026 with a double event in Shinjuku FACE for NEW YEAR DREAM. With a fresh start to the year, many of the STARDOM roster are setting themselves goals, with the Neo Genesis stable making their desire for championship gold clear.
On Jan. 3rd, Marigold held it’s first event of the year and it was aptly called “MARIGOLD FIRST DREAM 2026”. The event was held at the Ota City General Gymnasium in Tokyo.
Big Japan Pro-Wrestling held its “2026 NEW YEAR BATTLE BEGINNING” at Korakuen Hall with a respectable crowd of 634 fans in attendance for the event.
The Big Japan Pro-Wrestling faction Yosomono, which has been making waves lately within the promotion, has added two more huge members to it’s unit.
Pro Wrestling NOAH kicked off 2026 with The New Year in the Nippon Budokan, with the debut of Tetsuya Naito making waves across the Japanese wrestling scene. The following day, Pro Wrestling NOAH New Year Reboot got the ball rolling for what the promotion has ahead of them in the new year.
