Yuya Uemura Is Confident That His NJPW Era Is Coming As He Surges In G1 Climax 35

On Aug. 7th, Night 13 of the New Japan Pro-Wrestling G1 Climax 35 was held inside a sold out Korakuen Hall as the block action portion of the tournament is winding down.

At the event, which featured Block A bouts, “Heat Storm” Yuya Uemura faced Ryohei Oiwa in a battle that gave the fans a glimpse into the future of what is destined to become a major rivalry for NJPW. Uemura and Oiwa went into the match at 8 points a piece in the tournament as they both were looking to earn their 10th point.

After a bout that lasted almost twenty minutes, Uemura defeated Oiwa in a terrific battle between two future superstars that had the crowd very vocal and on the edge of their seats.

The victory gave Uemura his tenth point and put him in a tie with EVIL for first place in the G1 Climax 35 A Block. With one match to go in Block A competition, Uemura will face David Finlay in that final match. A win would give Uemura twelve points and would surely enable him to advance to the G1 Playoff round.

During his backstage post-match interview, Uemura vowed that the style he and Oiwa showed during their match will become the core of NJPW. He also believes that his era within NJPW is coming soon.

“The style we [Oiwa] showed today will become the core of New Japan. I truly believe that the era of ‘HEAT STORM’ Yuya Uemura is coming. To everyone watching on the screen, I will be the strongest waiting in the ring, so future wrestlers, come at me!”

In a recent interview with Monthly Puroresu, Uemura stated that he needs to show that he is the best pro wrestler in the world. To do that, Uemura said he needs to win the G1 Trophy and take it all over Japan which is why a win over Finlay is crucial.

The pressure will be on Uemura at the G Messe Gunma on Aug. 10th as he will be stepping in the ring with Finlay who himself is at 8 points and needs a victory for any hope of moving to the next round.

Uemura is confident that the “Heat Storm” era is coming and he needs to prove it with a win on Aug. 10th and advance to the playoff round, anything else would be labelled as a disappointment.
