Sendai Girls made a big free agent signing splash on July 2nd as the announced that Yuu and Miyuki Takase have officially joined the company.
Both Yuu and Takase had been competing for Sendai Girls as freelancers before signing contracts and becoming full fledged members of its roster. Takase is currently the co-holder of the Sendai Girls Tag Team Championship with Mika Iwata.
The two newest members of the Sendai Girls roster had plenty to say during the press conference in which the announcement was made.
Takase indicated that she always loved Sendai Girls Pro Wrestling. She said she decided to join the promotion after a receiving a passionate message from Sendai Girls owner and legend Meiko Satomura.
From Miyuki Takase
“I have decided to join Sendai Girls’ Pro Wrestling. I am Miyuki Takase. The reason I decided to join is that I’ve always really loved Sendai Girls’ wrestling. Even before I started appearing in their shows, when I was injured and hospitalized, I bought their live streams and watched them. They gave me so much strength, and I found myself thinking, ‘I want to stand in a ring like that too.’ After becoming a freelancer, the first promotion that reached out to me was Sendai Girls. From there, I began appearing regularly, and I found an irreplaceable partner in Mika Iwata. I truly wrestled with the feeling that I was already part of the promotion, and I treasured each appearance. Then, just recently, I received a passionate message from Satomura-san. She asked me to lend my strength in helping Sendai Girls grow even bigger going forward, and I decided to join because I want more people to be cheered up by watching Sendai Girls’ wrestling. From now on, as a member of Sendai Girls’ Pro Wrestling, I will take responsibility and work even harder than ever before. I sincerely ask for your continued support.”
Yuu revealed that this was not the first time she was approached by Satomura to join the Sendai Girls roster. She declined the first time but was honored to officially join when asked by Satomura again. While Yuu is set to retire at the end of the year, she wants to leave something behind that will help Sendai Girls grow.
From Yuu:
“Starting July 19, I will be officially joining Sendai Girls’ Pro Wrestling. I’m Yuu. This is the most nervous I’ve been all year. Actually, this is the second time that Satomura-san has approached me about becoming a member of the roster. I originally debuted with Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling, and after that, I worked as a freelancer and wrestled overseas. When I returned, the first promotion that welcomed me back was Sendai Girls, at a show held right here in Korakuen Hall. That was in April 2019. In the summer of 2019, there was a show in the UK, and it was at that event that I met what would become Team 200kg. It started because Satomura-san said, ‘It would be interesting to put these two together.’ From that moment on, Team 200kg has become the core of my wrestling — no, of my entire life. The first time Satomura-san asked me to join the promotion, I declined. I had just become a freelancer at that time. I was extremely grateful that they were willing to take in someone like me, who didn’t really know what she was doing yet. But I had made the decision to go it alone, and I couldn’t, in good conscience, abandon that difficult road I had chosen for myself just because Satomura-san had kindly reached out. That’s the honest truth I can finally say now. But this time, when I was offered the chance again, I was finally able to say clearly and wholeheartedly, ‘Yes, please, I want to join.’ I’m now in the final six months of my career, as I’m set to retire at the end of the year. During my freelance journey, I’ve had the opportunity to meet and work with so many people, I’ve gained so many experiences, and I’ve been trusted to hold many championship belts. But among all of that, what gave me the strongest emotional sense — not exactly “peace,” but a true feeling of belonging — was Sendai Girls. Even though I wasn’t officially signed, I wrestled in Sendai Girls regularly, and there were times I felt a deep frustration about not being formally part of the promotion. That’s how much I’ve come to love Sendai Girls. So this time, I gave my answer immediately and without hesitation: ‘Yes, I’d be honored to join.’ Some people might think, ‘It’s only for six months,’ but I truly believe that together with Chihiro Hashimoto as Team 200kg, we can shake up not only Sendai Girls, but the entire world of women’s professional wrestling. Sendai Girls is based in Miyagi Prefecture, but I’m going to push Team 200kg so far above the rest that we become synonymous with Miyagi itself — untouchable. Even after I retire, I want to leave something behind that will help Sendai Girls grow even more in the years to come. No — I will leave something behind. Thank you very much for your support.”
The two will face each other on July 19th as the Sendai Girls Tag Team Champions Mika Iwata & Miyuki Takase a.k.a. Red Energy will defend their titles against Yuu and Chihiro Hashimoto a.k.a. Team 200kg.
