On July 25th, Kento Miyahara successfully defended his AJPW Triple Crown Title for the eight straight time against Ren Ayabe at “SUMMER ACTION SERIES 2026” in front of a capacity crowd at Kobe Sambo Hall.
After the bout, Miyahara was confronted by former AJPW Triple Crown titleholder Yuma Anzai who proclaimed himself to be the ninth challenger for Miyahara. Anzai suggested they meet on Aug. 29th at AJPW “SUMMER ACTION WARS 2026” at EBARA WAVE Arena in Ota City.
Despite Anzai’s suggestion for a title bout on Aug. 29th and Miyahara seemingly accepting it, the championship bout has not yet been made official by AJPW as of this writing.
Anzai took to X and explained why, which was possibly aimed at AJPW head office, he is the only qualified competitor who can challenge for the Triple Crown Championship next.
From Yuma Anzai:
“Thank you for the Kobe event. I won the match against Hideki Suzuki, the Champion Carnival 2026 champion. Yuma Anzai is the driving force behind All Japan Pro Wrestling’s current momentum. That’s why I’m the only one who can challenge for the Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship next. A superstar versus the coolest man in the world. You’ll be missing out if you don’t watch this match.” (English translation via Deepl.com)
Yuma Anzai unsuccessfully challenged Miyahara for the AJPW Triple Crown Title back on Dec. 31st 2025. Anzai has matured as a competitor in the last seven months and is poised to give Miyahara his toughest challenge for the top prize in AJPW.
Anzai held the Triple Crown Title from March 30th 2024 through Aug. 17th 2024 and would like to become a two-time champion.
AJPW is expected to make Kento Miyahara vs. Yuma Anzai for the AJPW Triple Crown Title on Aug. 29th official in the very near future.
