Yuki Ueno Wins DDT Pro-Wrestling KO-D Openweight Title, Minoru Suzuki Issues Challenge

By: Lewis Carlan

Yuki Ueno became a three time DDT Pro-Wrestling KO-D Openweight champion on Sept. 28th when he defeated Kazuki Hirata at DDT “DRAMATIC INFINITY 2025” inside of the famed Korakuen Hall.

Ueno had to get a little creative as he made his surprise challenge for the KO-D Openweight Title. Hirata had successfully defended his title against the resident wrestling life sized doll Yoshihiko. Hirata was celebrating with a bag of Haribo candy when he reached in and found a Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Arm Cover. Yoshihiko’s handler was standing behind Hirata and revealed himself to be Ueno who was cashing in his right to challenge arm cover.

Ueno defeated Hirata at the 6:47 mark when he hit his patented WR finisher to win the top prize in DDT Pro and entered into his third reign as champion. Hirata won the title from Ueno back on Aug. 31st when he cashed in his right to challenge arm band. Ueno gained a bit a revenge by winning the title back from Hirata the same way he lost it to him.

Ueno had little time to celebrate as Kazuma Sumi, who won a right to challenge arm band from MAO earlier in the event, appeared and hit Ueno with a springboard dropkick. He then proceeded to cash in his armband and Ueno was forced to defend his newly won title.

Sumi fought valiantly and very nearly defeated Ueno but Ueno was able to hit another WR finisher this time on Sumi and retained his title at the 12:02 mark. Ueno praised Sumi and called the young star amazing.

After competing in two KO-D Openweight Title matches, the night was not over for Ueno. The DDT Universal Champion Minoru Suzuki appeared and challenged Ueno for the KO-D Openweight Title. A match between the two has been made official for Nov. 13th at Ryogoku Kokugikan but it will be a double title match as both the KO-D Openweight Title and DDT Universal Title will be defended.

Incredibly, Ueno won another championship earlier on the event when he teamed with To-y & Kaisei Takechi and they defeated Hideki Okatani, MJ Paul & Ilusion to win the vacant KO-D Six Man Tag Team Titles.
