Utami Hayashishita Pins World of Stardom Champion Suzu Suzuki to Gain Tag League Lead

By: Noah Leatherland

The Goddesses of Stardom Tag League continued on in Numazu with action in both blocks. Though it is still a tight race, Utami Hayashishita gave her team a leg up on the others as she scored a big pinfall on current world champion, Suzu Suzuki.

Gori N’ Roses, Hayashishita’s team with STARS ally Saya Iida, main evented the second day of league action up against Suzu Suzuki and Rina Yamashita, the Bloody Girls’ Academy. Suzuki already has Maika and Rina lining up to take a shot at her red belt. But, after the results in Numazu, she may have another contender waiting in the wings. Just before the bout hit the 10 minute mark, Hayashishita hoisted the champ up and connected with the Crusade, the impact being enough to keep Suzuki’s shoulders pinned to the mat for three seconds.

While a championship opportunity might be something to discuss in the future, everyone is focused on the tag league. Gori N’ Roses’ victory scored them another 2 points, moving them up to the joint lead in the Blue Goddesses. Elsewhere, Hina and Lady C also recorded a second win on the blue side of the tournament, tying them in front with Hayashishita and Iida.

Over in Red Goddesses, the block also sees two teams tied on 4 points after Numazu. The event kicked off with Black Swan, Saya Kamitani and Momo Watanabe overcoming Neo Genesis’ Mei Seira and Ema Maishima. Watanabe hit the Tequila Sunrise on Seira to secure the points for the H.A.T.E. side. In the following match, Saori Anou and Fuwa-chan also doubled their points total with a win over Yuna Mizumori and Anne Kanaya. Fuwa-chan picked up the points, pinning Kanaya off a shining wizard, and leaving her and Mizumori on 0 points.

The Goddesses of Stardom Tag League continues on November 8th in Takasaki.
