Utami Hayashishita Announces She Will Be Departing Marigold, Final Match With Promotion Is Set

By: Lewis Carlan

On April 25th, Utami Hayashishita unsuccessfully challenged the Marigold World Champion Miku Aono for the title as Korakuen Hall. Following her loss, Hayashishita addressed the crowd and made a shocking announcement as she revealed that she will be leaving Marigold.

Hayashishita explained while she wanted to recapture the Marigold World Title, she wasn’t leaving because she failed to regain the championship. Hayashishita indicated that she made her decision to leave some time ago and has talked it over with Marigold. Her final match with the promotion is set for May 23rd at Ota City General Gymnasium.

As per Tokyo Sports, Hayashishita spoke with the press following her announcement and explained her reason for departing Marigold:

From Utami Hayashishita:

โ€œI want to keep competing, watch everyone grow, and keep pushing myselfโ€”I want to go even higher. I made this decision because I want to show everyone what Utami Hayashishita the pro wrestler is capable of.โ€

Hayashishita revealed that she came to the conclusion that she wanted to leave Marigold at the end of last year:

โ€œAt the Marigold Awards, when Miku Aono won MVP and I received the Fighting Spirit Award, I felt a deep sense of regret for not winning the MVP.โ€

She then stated that while her time is now limited in Marigold, she wants to cherish the time she has left:

โ€œI do have some ideas, but when I focus on one thing, I tend to go straight for it. So right now, Iโ€™m trying my best to think only about the time I have left with Marigold. I want to cherish the time I have left.โ€

Hayashishita has been with Marigold since the very beginning and was featured in the main event of it’s inaugural event back in May 2024. She was the second woman to ever hold the Marigold World Title when she defeated Sareee for the belt in Jan. 2025.
