TJPW Home Cheer Home Celebrates Mifu Ashida’s Homecoming as Yuki Arai Headlines First Event as Princess of Princess Champion

By Noah Leatherland

TJPW headed to Fukuchiyama as the first show after GRAND PRINCESS, the hometown of Mifu Ashida. The wrestling cheerleader was in the main event, teaming with the promotion’s new top champion, Yuki Arai.

Ashida and Arai took on Mizuki and Uta Takami in the main event. Ashida managed to pick up the win in front of her hometown, the Cheerful Kick putting Takami down for the count. Riding the high of winning in front of her hometown fans, Ashida spoke from the heart after the match:

We won! Everyone, thank you so much for coming to the Fukuchiyama show today! Looking out at the crowd, I can see so many people who’ve always supported me, my relatives, and even my old schoolteachers—it makes me incredibly happy.

When I was growing up in Fukuchiyama, I never in my wildest dreams imagined I’d return to my hometown as a professional wrestler. But thanks to wrestling, I’ve been able to make a triumphant return to my hometown and give something back to the community, and I’m absolutely delighted to be able to show my family what I’ve become!

I can see a few children here and there today, and what I want to say to all of you is: please give everything you want to do a shot! Even if what you try seems completely unrelated to your future, it will form a line, then a shape, and it will definitely broaden the possibilities for your future. I’ll do my best not to be outdone by any of you, and I hope to return to Fukuchiyama again with the whole Tokyo Women’s Pro Wrestling team, so please continue to support us!

Speaking in the post-match comments, the duo also shared their delight to be teaming together once again, and possibly a hint towards their goal as a team:

Ashida: We won! I’m so happy to be back in my hometown today, and having Arai from Kyoto as my partner was a real boost!

Arai: Mifu’s been saying she wanted to compete in Fukuchiyama for ages, so I’m happy too! Let’s do our best so we can bring the belts back together next time!
