Syuri: “The most important thing is that the fans continue to watch us in the ring”

Current Artist of Stardom champion Syuri has spoken on the dismissal of Rossy Ogawa that was announced after Supreme Fight 2024

The women’s wrestling world was shocked when Bushiroad Fight announced that Rossy Ogawa, executive producer of STARDOM, had been released from his contract and that his position would be taken over by Bushiroad Fight President Taro Okada. This came after the company found that he was attempting to “poach staff” from within STARDOM to start another wrestling organization. Ogawa later refuted this to Tokyo Sports, by saying he was asked by talent if he could start anew after growing discontent towards the company by performers – with Giulia saying to Kakutolog back in November last year that “the place Rossy Ogawa has built is being destroyed”.

Now, Giulia’s former tag team partner and current Artist of Stardom champion Syuri has spoken about the news.

Speaking to Tokyo Sports, Syuri said that what the wrestlers do will not be affected because of the change in management: “The most important thing is that the fans continue to watch us in the ring. My colleagues and I have all worked hard to make STARDOM what it is, so please continue to support all of us”.

Furthermore, she added: “My feelings will remain the same, even if I have to say goodbye to my coworkers. It’s the same for Rossy Ogawa. I was able to shine bright because of him and my feelings haven’t changed because of what has happened. My hope is that once we’re able to get through this, then we’ll all be able to grow once more.”

Earlier this week Syuri, alongside other STARDOM performers, thanked Ogawa for his tenture in STARDOM, addeding that she’ll continue to do her best to be able to bring her wrestling to everybody.

Admist the uncertainty towards the future, the IWGP Women’s Champion and star of the film Runaway Wrestler Mayu Iwatani is slated to defend her gold against Mina Shirakawa, co-leader of STARDOM’s newest unit Enpress Nexus Venus, at New Beginning in Sapporo on February 28th, while the cards for the upcoming STARDOM events in Fuji and Toyohashi have been released, where Syuri and her God’s Eye stablemates will face off against Queen’s Quest on both shows.
