In early 2021, legendary Japanese luchador Súper Delfín announced to news outlets the creation of a new women’s wrestling promotion called 2point5 Dimension Women’s Pro Wrestling, based out of Osaka. This new venture aims to stand out in the way they execute their narrative, with a heavy emphasis on YouTube content. For that reason, the promotion is set to have two brands named “REAL”, dedicated to their live wrestling shows, and “VIRTUAL”, dedicated to online content with more of a fantasy-inclined presentation that will include CGI special effects to enhance the stories and characters portrayed.
Delfín’s tag team partner, popular joshi freelancer Momoka Hanazono, was appointed the general manager for 2point5, which estimated a debut show for around April of this year but will ultimately start this November 6th. The core roster of the company will consist of rookies from other avenues of life, including but not limited to modeling, singing and mixed martial arts. Tokyo Sports reported some of the names set to debut, such as Flying Penguin, Riemaru, Kagerou, Niko Nanami and Poppo.

Other wrestlers from the independent circuit around Osaka will also be a part of the debut card, as championships from other promotions will be defended, one of them being the WDW Women’s Championship, with Bambi defending against GM Hanazono.
Súper Delfín quoted recent success stories of tarentos crossing over to pro-wrestling, such as Fuwa-chan making her STARDOM debut in a well received match, to highlight the potential 2point5 has to create new wrestlers that will appeal to younger generations of fans. Instead of competing with bigger companies around, the masked wrestler wants to put the promotion’s focus on making puroresu “a fun side-activity that kids will enjoy and be inspired by”.
