The New Japan Pro-Wrestling G1 Climax 35 playoffs are now set.
Going into the final night of block action on Aug. 13, EVIL, David Finlay, Yota Tsuji and Zack Sabre Jr. had advanced to the next round with two spots remaining to be filled.
Shota Umino went into his match at Act City Hamamatsu against Great-O-Khan controlling his own destiny. A win by Umino would guarantee him a spot in the playoff round.
A determined Umino pulled out a victory over O-Khan in just over 12 minutes to catapult him into the next stage of the tournament.

With Umino’s advancement, that left one spot remaining in the G1 Climax 35 playoffs. Konosuke Takeshita battled Ren Narita in the main event to determine which one of the two would punch their ticket to the next round.
After a hell of a battle, it was Takeshita putting Narita away by referee stoppage with a Crossface Chicken Wing. With the victory, Takeshita earned the final spot in the G1 Climax 35 playoffs.
