Shota Umino Issues Statement Regarding Being Pulled From NJPW G1 Climax 36 Due To A Concussion

In unfortunate news today, New Japan Pro-Wrestling announced that Shota Umino showed symptoms of a concussion following his July 11 G1 Climax 36 opening match with Zack Sabre Jr.

After being examined by a medical staff, the rightful decision was made to remove Umino for the remainder of the G1 Climax 36 tournament.

Shota Umino took X and released a statement regarding the situation.

From Shota Umino:

“I’m truly frustrated, but I’m going to take some time to rest now so that I can definitely make a comeback in the ring. I’m truly sorry for any inconvenience or concern this may have caused.” (English translation via Deepl.com)

Umino had been one of the favourites to win this years G1 Climax tournament. Each of his remaining G1 Climax 36 bouts will be ruled as forfeits with an automatic two points being awarded to his scheduled opponents.
