Saya Kamitani Set To Defend The World Of STARDOM Title Against Bea Priestley On Sept 6th

By: Lewis Carlan

The last time Bea Priestley challenged for the World of STARDOM Championship was back on April 4th 2021 when she lost to then champion Utami Hayashishita at Stardom Yokohama Dream Cinderella In Spring.

For the first time in over four years, Priestley will get another opportunity at the coveted Red Belt as she is set to challenge current champion Saya Kamitani on Sept 6th at STARDOM TO THE WORLD 2025 in Yokohama Budokan. Priestley confronted Kamitani backstage during a post-match interview and demanded a shot at the Red Belt.

Priestley definitely has the psychological advantage over Kamitani. The two met back on Aug 17th in a STARDOM 5★STAR GP 2025 Block match that was won by Priestley. In fact, the two have had a total of four singles matches over the past five years, all of which were won by Priestley.

Kamitani spoke about Priestley recently with Tokyo Sports. Kamitani has vowed to show Priestley she is not the same person she was four years ago.

From Saya Kamitani:

“Saya-sama’s summer may be over, but no matter what anyone says, Saya-sama is the Red Belt Champion. In the four years that Bea was away from STARDOM, I wore the red belt and climbed to the top. I’m going to show her that I’m not the same person I was back then.”

Kamitani responded to Priestley calling her “shoppai” (weak):

“Anyone can see Saya-sama isn’t shoppai. When you say ‘shoppai,’ that’s Waka Tsukiyama, Momo Kohgo, Lady C, those are the people you’re talking about. Bea needs to study her Japanese.”

When Sept. 6th rolls around, it will be tough to predict which mindset Kamitani will be in. While she had been undefeated in almost a year, she has lost three singles matches in the past 10 days to Cohaku (WAVE), Priestley & AZM. And now she is going into her next singles match against someone she has never beaten before in Priestley.

Kamitani will have to bring her A game if she wishes to break out of her current slump. With the Red Belt on the line at STARDOM TO THE WORLD 2025 in Yokohama Budokan, Kamitani has the chance to show the world that she truly is one of the best pro wrestlers in the world. She must overcome adversity and stay strong mentally.

Kamitani knows it’s crucial that she finally defeats Priestley for the first time in her career. Going against Priestley, Kamitani knows it’s not going to be easy. She will have to pull out all the stops on Sept. 6th if she is wishes to emerge victorious against her adversary.
