Sareee & Takumi Iroha Aim to be the First Female Duo to Win the Tokyo Sports Best Tag Team Award

The Tokyo Sports Best Tag Team Award is a prestigious accolade that began in 1975 when Antonio Inoki & Seiji Sakaguchi had the honor of being the inaugural winners.

Chigusa Nagayo was the first female to win the award but her partner was Atsushi Onita. In the history of the award, there has never been an all female team named as the Tokyo Sports Tag Team of the Year. Sareee & Takumi Iroha A.K.A. Spark Rush have set a goal to change that this year.

On Aug. 27th, Sareee & Takumi Iroha will team with MIRAI as they face AKARI, Leah Night & Aleah James at the Strong Style Pro-Wrestling Vol.40 THE FIRST TIGER MASK 45th Anniversary Year event at Korakuen Hall.

Ahead of that match, Sareee & Takumi Iroha spoke with Tokyo Sports and let their goal of winning the Tag Team of the Year be known.

From Sareee:

Sareee stated that Spark Rush wants to devote time to tag team wrestling and face numerous challenges as they make their push to win the Tokyo Sports Best Tag Team Award.

In 2025, Saya Kamitani made history when she became the first woman to win the Tokyo Sports MVP Award. Now, Sareee & Takumi Iroha hope to make history of their own in 2026 by being the first women tag team to win the Tokyo Sports Tag Team of the Year Award.
