Sareee Fires Back At Suzu Suzuki Ahead of IWGP Women’s Championship Match

By: Noah Leatherland

Ahead of challenging Sareee for the IWGP Women’s Title at STARDOM TO THE WORLD on September 6th, Suzu Suzuki shared her scathing opinion on the champion. Now, the Sun God has fired back.

Suzu Suzuki’s comments about Sareee were quite curt:

‘Sareee is only strong, with nothing interesting about her.’

(H/T goes to meraWRESTLING for the English quote translation)

Sareee met Suzuki in the 5★STAR GP 2025 Tournament in August. The two battled to a time limit draw and both took a single point towards their block standings. Frustrated with the result, Sareee had promised that the next time they would face off, she would ‘beat the hell out of her’. Sareee will soon have that chance. The Sun God made her first defense of the IWGP Women’s Championship at the 5★STAR GP Finals, defeating Konami. Then, Suzu Suzuki emerged as her next challenger.

Sareee spoke to Tokyo Sports about the comments Suzuki had made. She noted:

‘Since my debut, I’ve fought desperately to become stronger, so this trend of treating being strong now as a bad thing is absurd. Everyone in pro-wrestling should be striving to get stronger and win. While everyone has their own approach, I believe that’s the most crucial part.’ (Translated by Deepl)

Sareee connects her thoughts on strength to the heritage that comes with the IWGP championship she holds. She added:

“I believe the IWGP belt is meant to be worn by the strongest person, and as champion, I must live up to that. So I ask, what’s wrong with just being strong? I possess other qualities too, and I’ll prove it in the title match.” (Translated by Deepl)

As well as making enemies on the roster, Sareee has not exactly won the adoration of the STARDOM fans. She had been met with boos from those in attendance throughout the 5★STAR GP. Sareee also shared her thoughts on the reception she has been receiving:

‘I don’t feel good about the booing, but the ring is inherently a place filled with anger and killing intent. I believe wrestling thrives on controversy… I have fans who tell me Sareee’s wrestling is the best. I want to answer that call. One day, I’ll turn those loud boos into thunderous cheers.’ (Translated by Deepl)

It seems that Suzuki’s comments have rolled right off the back of the Sun God. Sareee is sure to show Suzuki exactly how strong she is when they meet on September 6th at the Yokohama Budokan.
