SANADA Wants To Defend IWGP Title in a Lumberjack Match Against EVIL

Ever since EVIL stole SANADA’s IWGP World Heavyweight championship at this year’s G1 Climax Finals, the champion has been looking for retribution against the House of Torture. The group have also stolen Taichi’s KOPW, too.

At a press conference held today for Destruction in Ryogoku on October 9th, the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion proposed that their title match be fought under Lumberjack Rules, saying “It might not be appropriate for an IWGP or championship match, but I would like to propose that that this becomes a lumberjack match.” Continuing on, SANADA spoke about how EVIL was his former and best tag team partner, “Since we were partners, I had dreamed of having an IWGP match against EVIL – and now that it has become a possibility, I want to do it fair and square, which is why I want a lumberjack match.

In response, EVIL said he’ll think about the rules, promising to finish off SANADA and Just 5 Guys for good after “defending” the championship in Ryogoku Sumo Hall.

If SANADA’s request is granted, it will be the first lumberjack match to take place since the formation of the International Wrestling Grand Prix.
