Current All Japan Pro-Wrestling Triple Crown Titleholder Katsuhiko Nakajima’s attempt to become a double champion was denied by Jun & Rei Satio on January 14th at the AJPW New Year Giant Series 2024 event in Korakuen Hall. Nakajima and Omori were the winners of the AJPW Real World Tag League 2023 Tournament which had earned them a shot at the World Tag Titles against the current champions The Saito Brothers.
Going into the title bout, Nakajima & Omori held a psychological advantage as they defeated The Saito’s in a Real World Tag League 2023 tournament match back on November 23rd. Nakajima & Omori seemed poised to come out of the match as the new champions but unfortunately, Jun & Rei Satio had plans of their own. In an encounter that featured numerous near falls, Rei Saito landed a hard upper shot to Katsuhiko Nakajima which was good enough to allow Saito to score a pinfall and retain the belts for him and his brother.

This was the third straight successful AJPW World Title defense for The Saito Brothers since winning the belts back on October 9th, 2023. They continue the hot streak they have been on as of late. Backstage after their victory, they made it clear that with the momentum they have going, they would defend their tag titles against anyone that steps into the ring with them. It will be interesting to see which tag team will be challenging Jun & Rei Satio next for the AJPW World Tag Team Titles.
