Q&A with Kosei Fujita from NJPW, on Best of Super Jr. 32, Robbie Eagles, TMDK + more!

By: Lewis Carlan

Kosei Fujita has made tremendous strides in the world of pro-wrestling since his debut back in August 2021. He has become one of New Japan Pro-Wrestling most promising young stars and has been called a future IWGP Jr Heavyweight Champion.

Fujita became a member of the faction TMDK in January 2023 after accepting an invitation by Zack Sabre Jr. to join. Since becoming a member, he has formed a formidable tag team with Robbie Eagles known as the Ichiban Sweet Boys. Fujita and Eagles are former IWGP Jr Heavyweight Tag Team Champions.

The Best of the Super Juniors 32 tournament is in full swing with Fujita competing in the A Block. Fujita is off to a strong start and is currently leading his block with 6 pts.

Fujita took time out of his very busy BOSJ 32 schedule to answer a number of questions for us here at Monthly Puroresu.

Monthly Puroresu:

The NJPW Best of the Super Jr 32 tournament kicked off on May 10th, this is your second year and are in the A Block. Who do you see as the toughest competitor for you to win the A Block?

Kosei Fujita:

Honestly, everybody, but if I had to pick one going in it would be Hiromu.

Monthly Puroresu:

Last year you earned 6 points in the BOSJ 31 tournament. What is your goal for this year’s tournament that you would consider a success for yourself?

Kosei Fujita:

Obviously the goal is to win every match.

Monthly Puroresu:

You and Robbie Eagles lost the IWGP Jr Heavyweight Tag Team Titles on April 29th. Has that big loss affected your mental state heading into the BOSJ 32 tournament?

Kosei Fujita:

Losing the tag titles has no effect on the tournament whatsoever. From before the tour started I’ve been completely locked in on BOSJ.

Monthly Puroresu:

Have you considered the possibility of a tournament final between you and Robbie Eagles? Is that a situation you will be ready for?

Kosei Fujita:

I would really like to wrestle Robbie in the final. I know first hand from being next to him just how great he is, and that’s exactly why I want to test myself against him.

Monthly Puroresu:

Does the Ichiban Sweet Boys plan on attempting to regain the IWGP Jr Heavyweight Tag Team Championship after the BOSJ Tournament?

Kosei Fujita:

I’m looking at the goal that’s in front of me right now. What happens down the line really is no concern to me.

Monthly Puroresu:

You have been a member of TMDK for over two years, could you ever see yourself as the leader of TMDK?

Kosei Fujita:

TMDK is the reason I am where I am today. I wouldn’t change that dynamic one bit.

Monthly Puroresu:

What are your final thoughts concerning the Best of the Super Jrs?

Kosei Fujita:

Just keep your eyes on me. You’ll see me beat the field and win that trophy.
