Cara Noir is an enigmatic performer. He never speaks, yet says so much. This September, he makes his debut in DDT against new Universal champion Yuki Ueno – and he’s a person unlike the ones that have ever graced the stage of the company before.
The Black Swan made his name starting in 2017 in the indepedent wrestling scene in the United Kingdom, wowing audiences with his captivating style and unique in-ring ability. His Swan Woo dropkick and Madam Guillotine neckbreaker are only two of his most devastating moves that have put away opponents in the past, but his most dangerous of them all is his sleeper hold, latching onto opponents from behind and taking them out for good, even if there’s thumbtacks behind him that he’ll land onto.
Using a variety of kicks influenced by his days as a black belt, the former ballet dancer turned wrestler isn’t one to be messed about with, having heated rivalries with the likes of Spike Trivet and Mike Bird that erupted into brawls around arenas.
I won’t stop …

He’s not all just presentation, though. From January 2020 to March 2022, Cara Noir became the longest reigning PROGRESS World champion at 791 days and in the process equaled the most defenses of the championship in bouts against NOAH’s Chris Ridgeway, AEW’s Swerve Strickland and DDT’s Chris Brookes before losing it to former ROH World champion Jonathan Gresham in a title vs title match.
His most notable match comes against AEW’s All Atlantic champion PAC – a mystery opponent for the Black Swan at RIPTIDE: Point Break 2019. From there on, his career would reach even greater heights, winning one of Europe’s most prestigious tournaments 16 Carat Gold in 2020 after defeating former two-time KO-D tag team champion “Speedball” Mike Bailey in the finals.
It’s fair to say that Cara Noir is one of the most unique, interesting and enjoyable wrestlers in professional wrestling in the last few years. Mixing together both dance, artistry and hard-hitting maneuvers to create and develop a performer like no other in the industry.
“The Black Swan” Cara Noir is this week’s one to watch.
