By: Lewis Carlan

In what was initially a rumour had become a reality as officials for the legendary pro-wrestling venue Shinjuku FACE have confirmed that it will close permanently at the end of September 2026.

From the official Shinjuku FACE X account:

“We sincerely thank you for always using and visiting Shinjuku FACE.
As of the end of September 2026, Shinjuku FACE will be closing its doors after 21 years of operation. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the customers who have visited, the performers, the related parties, and everyone involved.”

When is comes to pro wrestling in Japan, almost every pro wrestling promotion has held events inside the confines of Shinjuku FACE over the past 21 years.

Upon the announcement of its closing, numerous Puroresu stars issued statements on the development.

From Miyu Yamashita:

“This is a shock! 😳 Shinjuku FACE—a place where I fought so many matches and built up so many great experiences… I’ll miss it.”

From Will Ospreay:

“Went to so many shows in Shinjuku Face. It was always the best of times getting lemon sours and seeing the giant Godzilla statue.”

From Starlight Kid:

“This venue holds such fond memories for us—we held anniversary events here and used it several times for Stardom matches! It had great access and a permanent ring… it’s so sad… But thank you so much for letting us hold so many pro wrestling events here over the years!!”

From Chris Brookes:

“In that PWI interview, I called FACE my favorite pro wrestling venue…! It’s sad…I’m truly grateful for all the memories made there. Especially BAKA GAIJIN wrestling on the mat for us and being allowed to perform at the 20th anniversary show. I’m also thankful to the wonderful staff who were always warm and kind. I’ll enjoy every remaining chance until the very end.”

From Dragon Kid:

“Though I’ve only fought there a handful of times, it’s a venue with precious memories. My first match at Shinjuku FACE was January 24, 2009 Hayabusa Produce Event,  Fiesta del “HAYABUSA” PHOENIX. No footage remains, making it a legendary event. Seventeen years have passed since then. January 26, 2026 Shinjuku FACE. Hayabusa was right beside me.”

From Chanyota:

“My debut match was also at Shinjuku FACE🥲 Shinjuku FACE, filled with memories. It’s sad, but I’ll cherish every remaining moment I can spend at Shinjuku FACE…!! I’ll fight today’s match with all my heart.”

From Sanshiro Takagi:

“The closure of Shinjuku FACE at the end of September has been announced. This venue has been incredibly supportive to us, and last year we had the honor of celebrating its 20th anniversary together. What we can do now is build an enjoyable space for our guests at Shinjuku FACE until it closes. Let’s stick together until the very end!”

From Rea Seto:

“It’s my favorite venue, so I’m really disappointed.”

From Hyper Misao:

“Shinjuku FACE, where I made my debut, holds so many memories for me.😭😭 How many more times will I get to fight here? “

The latest event at Shinjuku FACE was held on March 10th as for P.P.P Tokyo.
