NJPW Superstar Francesco Akira Promises To Return Stronger Than Ever Following Injury

New Japan Pro-Wrestling superstar Francesco Akira suffered an injury that will cause him to be out of action indefinitely. The injury occurred on Aug. 22 as Akira was facing Leon Slater at the RevPro 13th Anniversary event in London, England. During the course of the match, Akira suffered a fractured right wrist in a bout that lasted only eight minutes and was won by Leon Slater.

After being diagnosed, Akira learned that would need surgery to repair his fractured right wrist which will keep him away from any in-ring action indefinitely.

NJPW made the announcement to its fans concerning the injury to Akira via it’s official website. It was also announced via social media by NJPW that Akira will miss upcoming events for the promotion.

Akira took to X to explain the situation and promised the fans that he will return from injury stronger than ever.

“Last Friday, I sustained an injury during a match in England and will require surgery. I will be taking some time off. I apologize for the sudden announcement, but thank you for your continued support. I will not let this incident get me down, and I will come back even stronger!” (Via Google Translate)

Never wanted to make this post but wanna address the news… unfortunately on my match on Friday in RevPro I suffered a broken wrist that will require that I go under surgery. Obviously it’s never easy to be hurt but accidents happen, I won’t let this stops me, instead I will focus on getting back healthy quickly. Akira is a three time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion with TJP as Catch 22.
