By: Lewis Carlan

The New Japan Pro-Wrestling G1 Climax 35 has reached its 16th and final night of full block competition which is scheduled for Aug. 13th at the Act City Hamamatsu.

We know that David Finlay, Yota Tsuji and EVIL have advanced from the A Block to the playoff round of the G1 Climax 35.

From the B Block, only Zack Sabre Jr. is guaranteed to advance which leaves two spots remaining. We will find out at the end of the Aug. 13th event which two have earned the right to compete in the playoff round.

Here are the Block B match-ups for Aug. 13 and the scenarios required for advancement.

  • Konosuke Takeshita (5-3) vs Ren Narita (5-3)
  • Shota Umino (5-3) vs Great-O-Khan (4-4)
  • Zack Sabre Jr. (-) vs YOSHI-HASHI (-)
  • Drilla Moloney (4-4) vs Shingo Takagi (4-4)

Here are the G1 Climax 35 Night 16 remaining scenarios for advancing to the next round:

  • Whoever wins in the Takeshita vs Narita match will be the one to advance to the playoff round.
  • Shota Umino will automatically advance with a win over Great-O-Khan. O-Khan must win to remain mathematically alive.
  • Zack Sabre Jr has advanced while YOSHI-HASHI has been officially eliminated.
  • Both Drilla Moloney and Shingo Takagi must score a win to remain mathematically alive.

It’s been a long and hard-fought road for all competitors throughout the G1 Climax 35 and it’s come down to two spots remaining in the playoff round. While the odds are in favor that either Takeshita, Narita or Umino will grab the final two spots, anything can happen in the G1.

Numerous competitors on Aug 13. will literally be fighting for the G1 Climax 35 survival.
