NJPW and CMLL’s Fantastica Mania tour carried on into Osaka, with the semi-finals of the tour’s tag team tournament taking place. The finals are set to take place on February 24th.
The first semi-final saw the father-son duo of Atlantis and Atlantis Jr. take on the team of Averno and Magnus. The rudos’ dirty tactics helped them on their way to a victory, with the finish coming after Averno landing a Devil’s Wings off the second rope.
Following the match, Averno challenged Atlantis Jr. for the NWA Historic Light Heavyweight Championship. The champion accepted, setting the date for February 26th in Korakuen Hall.
The main event saw El Sky Team, Mistico and Mascara Dorada, taking on Futuro and Valiente Jr. in the other semi-final. It was a thrilling, high-flying affair, with plenty of acrobatics that wowed the fans in Osaka.
In the end, it was El Sky Team that were victorious, a shooting star press from Dorada sealing the deal. Speaking in the post-match comments, the victors shared their confidence heading into the finals:
Dorada: There’s only one team that can win this tournament. El Sky Team, Mexico’s representatives, Mistico and Dorado.
Mistico: Dorada is now the world’s number one high-flyer… There’s nothing to fear! This tournament is made for El Sky Team!
