Marigold fans were hit with a surprise development today as MIRAI announced that she will be departing the promotion with her last match confirmed for Oct. 13th. MIRAI will team with Mai Sakurai to face Nagisa Nozaki & CHIAKI in her final match for Marigold.
The shocking announcement was made at MARIGOLD BATTLE HEART 2025 on Sept. 20th in front of a sold out crowd at Shin-Kiba 1st Ring in Tokyo. MIRAI explained why she decided to leave Marigold.
From MIRAI:
“So, I went into the recent DREAM STAR GP with full determination. But I couldn’t achieve any results, so I took some time to reflect on myself. And I found my answer. MIRAI will be leaving Marigold on October 13th. You know, from my last promotion, Rossy Ogawa took such great care of me. I wanted to follow Rossy Ogawa, so I came to Marigold, and I was able to have the homecoming match I always said I wanted to do, and I was also allowed to teach wrestling classes, and I was placed on many different cards. I also met such wonderful teammates and such wonderful fans. But after reflecting on myself, I realized that while I relied on Rossy Ogawa until now, I want to test my own strength without that support. MIRAI is leaving the nest from Rossy Ogawa!”
When MIRAI was asked if she will be compete as a freelancer, she revealed that she is weighing all options concerning her future.
Marigold owner Rossy Ogawa issued on a comment on the situation. Ogawa indicated that despite numerous discussions with MIRAI they decided to respect her wishes and allowed her to depart Marigold.
From Rossy Ogawa:
“At today’s Shin-Kiba show, MIRAI announced her departure from Marigold. We had numerous discussions with her, but ultimately, we decided to respect MIRAI’s wishes and allow her to leave. Since this was her choice, our role will now be to watch over her, and I look forward to her future activities. Any promotion faces as many goodbyes as there are new members. That is the fate of running a promotion. Every promotion faces internal conflicts. There is happy news and sad news; I ask that the fans share in all of it with us, as part of pro-wrestling.”
MIRAI has been with Marigold since its inception and defeated CHIAKI in the first ever Marigold event back on May 20th, 2024. MIRAI is a former Marigold Twin Star Champion with Mai Sakurai.
With her departure from Marigold, the speculation as to what the future holds for MIRAI has begun. Will she compete as a freelancer? Will she return to STARDOM where she held multiple titles including the Wonder of STARDOM Championship. She would be an immediate contender for Saya Kamitani and the World of STARDOM title which she has never held. Could she head to Marvelous, TJPW or Sendai Girls and try to elevate those promotions?
Only time will tell where MIRAI ends up and after Oct. 13th, the fans will be paying close attention to the news and/or social media as they will be anxiously awaiting an announcement on the next move for MIRAI.
