Mayu Iwatani Says She Will Crush Seri Yamaoka And Retain Her Marigold Superfly Championship On Oct. 13th

On Oct. 13th, Mayu Iwatani is set to defend her Marigold Superfly Championship against rising superstar Seri Yamaoka at the famed Korakuen Hall. Yamaoka challenged Iwatani for her title on Sept. 20th at Marigold BATTLE HEART 2025 following Yamaoka and Victoria Yuzuki’s tag team victory over Iwatani & Komomo Minami.

Yamaoka faced Iwatani in a singles bout for the first time back on Aug. 2nd at the DREAM STAR GP 2025 Tournament in a DREAM League block match-up. Iwatani was the heavy favorite going into that match with Yamaoka. In a surprise outcome that can be considered a huge upset, Yamaoka defeated Iwatani via pinfall that shocked just about everyone including Iwatani herself.

Yamaoka took that DREAM STAR GP 2025 tournament victory and turned into a well deserved Superfly Title opportunity against Iwatani. Many people now feel Yamaoka has the ability to dethrone Iwatani for her title on Oct.13th after the surprise win at the DREAM STAR GP Tournament.

Iwatani spoke with Tokyo Sports recently and stated that she wants to show Yamaoka that her DREAM STAR GP win was nothing but a fluke. Iwatani said she is looking to crush Yamaoka and retain the Superfly Title.

“It’s a fact that I lost to her in the Dream Star, and I think she’s good at wrestling and has a cute face. But I want to show her that was a fluke, demonstrate the strength of Mayu Iwatani, and decisively crush her.”

Iwatani has earned the title of Icon because of her incredible career as a professional wrestler and is regarded as one of the very best to ever set foot inside the squared circle. Yamaoka has also earned her title as Super Rookie because she has immense potential and is expected to be one of the leaders in the world of Joshi Puroresu for many years to come.

While Iwatani hopes to show Yamaoka that her Aug. 2nd win over her was a fluke, that will not be an easy task. When all is said and done on Oct. 13th, Yamaoka could very well be 2-0 against Iwatani and the new Marigold Superfly Champion. Iwatani will have to be at the top of her game and fully ready for the challenge of the Super Rookie if she looks to leave Korakuen Hall on Oct. 13th with her championship still in her possession.
