The MARIGOLD TRUE VICTORY 2025 tour continued on Dec. 6th at the APA Hotel & Resort Sapporo with a big evening event.
The featured bout saw the Marigold Superfly Champion Mayu Iwatani making her fifth defense of her title against the challenge of Hummingbird. There had been some talk that Hummingbird hasn’t tapped into the tremendous potential she possesses prior to her challenge for Iwatani’s title. Iwatani, who is nothing short of an icon, has the expertise and experience to bring the best out of her opponents and that’s exactly what occurred in this title bout.

In an action-packed match, Iwatani was able to overcome the tough challenge of Hummingbird after she ended the bout at the 12:41 mark with a Moonsault Press and retain her title. An exhausted Iwatani had these post-match backstage comments concerning Hummingbird.
From Mayu Iwatani:
“Before the fight, I thought Hummingbird was underutilized. She has incredible potential but hasn’t fully tapped into it yet. I figured she’d come at me full force since I was her opponent.” (Translated via Deepl)
In other action, Marigold World Champion Miku Aono, Chika Goto & Yuuki Minami defeated Mai Sakurai, Victoria Yuzuki & Seri Yamaoka. This was another preliminary between champion Aono and her Jan 3rd challenger Mai Sakurai. Aono made a statement as she pinned Sakurai to win the match for her team.
