Mayu Iwatani Praises Chika Goto After Their Marigold BURNING DESIRE 2025 Six Woman Tag Team Match

When Mayu Iwatani joined Marigold back on May 1st, she was excited about facing new challenges and challengers within the promotion. The Icon has never been shy about praising opponents that she felt has exceptional talent.

This is exactly what happened on May 30th following Marigold’s BURNING DESIRE 2025 event.

Iwatani, the Marigold Super Flyweight Champion, teamed MIRAI & Victoria Yuzuki as they battled Miku Aono, Chika Goto & Yuuki Minami. Iwatani won the match for her team after nailing a moonsault press on Minami. When all was said and done, it was Chika Goto who made a lasting impression on Iwatani.

During the backstage post-match comments, Iwatani had nothing but praise for Goto, calling her a great athlete.

From Mayu Iwatani:

“To be honest, I didn’t really know much about Chika Goto and I didn’t really think she was that great, but after fighting her today, I realized she’s a really great athlete.”

One could wonder if this is a subtle hint by Iwatani that she would like to face Goto in a singles match in the near future. It’s a bout that Goto would surely welcome.

The next Marigold event will be May 31st in Fukouka. Chika Goto will face Hummingbird in singles action while Mayu Iwatani, MIRAI & Komomo Minami take on Mai Sakurai, Miku Aono & Rea Seto.
