In recent interview with Tokyo Sports, Sareee had indicated that as Mayu Iwatani had joined Marigold, she had interest in facing her in another singles bout.
From Sareee:
“I am very interested in the fact that Mayu Iwatani has joined Marigold. She is the only one in the women’s pro wrestling world who started at the same time as me. Of course, the feeling of wanting to fight her is there.”
Iwatani had defeated Sareee back in April 2024 in an IWGP Women’s Title match at Stardom All-Star Grand Queendom 2024. It’s a safe bet to say that Sareee would like avenge that loss to Iwatani.

Unfortunately for Sareee, Iwatani doesn’t share the same feelings when it comes to another potential singles bout between the two. While speaking with Tokyo Sports, Iwatani exhibited brutal honesty and indicated that she had no interest in facing Sareee once again when the topic came up. Iwatani feels there is nothing to gain from another match with Sareee.
From Mayu Iwatani:
“Huh. I’m not interested, so I don’t really feel anything about it. Well, if anything, I don’t really want to fight her. There’s no merit in fighting her, don’t you think? It’s like, what would I gain from fighting Sareee-san?”
From Iwatani’s words, it doesn’t seem likely that we will see Iwatani squaring off against Sareee in a rematch of their April 2024 bout anytime soon. Iwatani has her focus right now on the GHC Women’s Title which is currently held by Takumi Iroha. Coincidently, Sareee & Iroha hold the Marvelous AAAW Tag Team Titles.
A match between Iwatani and Sareee would be a bout the fans would love to see and it would be another terrific encounter but it takes two to tango. Right now, there is no interest on the part of Iwatani but in the world of pro-wrestling, never say never.
