Masato Tanaka vs. Shuji Ishikawa Ends in Double Knockout at ZERO1 Fire Festival 2026 Day 5

KBS Hall in Kyoto was the place to be on July 5th for Day 5 of Pro Wrestling ZERO1’s Fire Festival 2026. Featured on the card were four tournament matches, including a hard-hitting matchup between Masato Tanaka and Shuji Ishikawa that ended in a double knockout.

Tanaka and Ishikawa both came into Day 5 with 4 points, meaning victory in Kyoto signified a jump into first place in Block A. The pair had faced off back in March at a ZERO1 event in Shin-Kiba, with Tanaka picking up the win. Ishikawa came into the match looking to avenge his loss and also continue his winning streak here in the Fire Festival.

The two heavy hitters battled in the Day 5 main event, with the bout coming to a bloody end in (16:52) after a double knockout ended the match in a draw. The draw between Tanaka and Ishikawa created a 3-way tie for the top spot in Block A, with Junya Matsunaga, Masato Tanaka, and Shuji Ishikawa all having 5 points.

Ishikawa took to social media after the event, acknowledging the strength of Tanaka and also stating that someday he will avenge his loss, however, that day will not be anytime soon.

“It was the Kyoto tournament. The match ended in a draw with both fighters knocked out. Masato Tanaka is just too strong. I’ll settle this with him someday…I’m good for now…”

In other Block A action, Kuma Arashi added 2 points to the scoreboard after defeating Ryunosuke Nagai with a Diving Senton in just under twelve minutes.

Elsewhere on the card for Block B, Yuko Miyamoto defeated Tsugataka Sato with a Tope Rope Moonsault, and Daichi Hashimoto picked up his first win of the tournament, defeating Koji Doi by submission with a Reverse STF. Despite the loss, Koji Doi still sits in first place for Block B with 4 points, with Daichi Hashimoto and Yuko Miyamoto close behind with 3 points.

Pro Wrestling ZERO1’s Fire Festival 2026 returns on July 11th at Tokyo Square in Itabashi, featuring four tournament matches, including Katsuhiko Nakajima vs. Daichi Hashimoto.
