At Yoyogi National Gymnasium event on 11.23, Naomichi Marufuji announced that he would challenge for the GHC Tag Championship with former partner KENTA, who currently wrestles for New Japan Pro Wrestling.
What did “The Genius of the Ark” have on his mind?

——Please tell us why you chose KENTA as your partner.
Naomichi Marufuji
“Well, the Yoyogi crowd were the ones who brought KENTA’s name up, but my partners were [Masato] Tanaka and [Masaaki] Mochizuki. It’s hard. If you go to win the belt, do you think Tanaka and Mochizuki have the better chance at winning? Maybe. However, 2023 is also a milestone year for me, so . . . Sugiura, Kojima, no . . . “TAKA & SATOSHI.” Those two have the tag belts. Well, I’ve been interested since they got them. That’s why I wanted to take it one step further and bring in KENTA, [I wanted] something big like that at Nippon Budokan.”
