Back on May 28th, Marigold superstar Seri Yamaoka dislocated her shoulder after delivering a dropkick to Maddy Morgan during a British Empire Women’s World Championship bout.
After the injury, Yamaoka revealed that she had been susceptible to shoulder dislocations since she was in middle school but had always opted not to have surgery.
Yamaoka took to X today and announced that she has decided to finally get surgery done on her shoulder as she feels it’s the best option.
From Seri Yamaoka:
I have an announcement for everyone who has always supported me.
Due to the dislocation I suffered recently, I’ve decided to undergo shoulder surgery. I’m truly sorry for the long hiatus this will cause. I first dislocated my shoulder when I was in sixth grade. It became a recurring issue, and although I’d always thought I’d eventually need surgery, I hadn’t gotten around to it until now. This decision was made after consulting with my family, my doctor, and those around me, with an eye toward my future. It will be a long absence, but I’ll work hard toward my return in a positive and sustainable way! I’ll keep updating my social media, so I’d be happy if you’d check it out! I have countless dreams I want to achieve in my pro-wrestling career! That’s exactly why I’m going to heal this injury and step back into the ring in top form! When I return, I’ll be a completely different Seri than I am now! Please wait for me! (English translation via Deepl.com)
Marigold revealed on X that the surgery will take place in June 9th and Yamaoka is expected to miss six months of in-ring action.
This comes at a very bad time for Marigold as the promotion seems to be getting plagued by injuries to their top stars. In addition to Yamaoka, Mayu Iwatani, Victoria Yuzuki & Erina Yamanaka are all out of action due to injuries.
Everyone at Monthly Puroresu wishes Seri Yamaoka a speedy recovery from her surgery and hopes to see her back in the ring very soon.
