Marigold Confirms Maria Will Replace Senka Akatsuki At The Dream Star GP 2025

By: Pep S. Caro

Marigold is preparing to hold its summer tournament, Dream Star GP 2025, which will kick off with a doubleheader on August 2nd in Osaka. The 16 participants will be divided into two blocks, each with singles matches. During the press conference, it was announced that Senka Akatsuki will unfortunately have to withdraw from the tournament due to health issues, which Marvelous confirmed during their show at Shinkiba 1st RING yesterday. Akatsuki was scheduled to compete in the Dream League alongside Utami Hayashishita, Mayu Iwatani, Victoria Yuzuki, Kouki Amarei, Seri Yamaoka, Rea Seto, and Chiaki.

Marigold confirmed that her replacement will be Maria, one half of the Twin Star Champions. Maria is also a member of Marvelous and the current Marigold Champion, so she has the necessary support to enter the tournament. Maria’s first two matches will be against Iwatani during the noon show and Amarei during the afternoon show.

Akatsuki’s withdrawal is truly unfortunate, but Maria’s inclusion is undoubtedly not only a worthy replacement but also provides many opportunities for Marigold’s unique matches and storytelling. As the Tag Team Champion, losing one of the tournament matches could open up the possibility of a title match against Magenta, the Twin Star champion team that also includes Riko Kawahata.
