On Oct. 26th, Marigold will present arguably its biggest event in it’s short history as GRAND DESTINY 2025 is set to take place at Ryogoku Kokugikan.
At the event, the Marigold United National Champion Mai Sakurai will make her seventh defense of her title as she faces the challenge of Victoria Yuzuki. This bout is expected to be Sakurai’s toughest title defense to date as Yuzuki is considered to be the future leader of Marigold and is a former Superfly Champion.
The tension between the two began during the press conference to announce the championship bout back on Oct 9th when Yuzuki turned down a handshake from Sakurai and proceeded to attack her. This led to a brawl between the two combatants.
As we are just mere hours away from the United National Title bout at GRAND DESTINY 2025, Sakurai and Yuzuki have gotten into a heated exchange on social media.
It began when Yuzuki responded to an article about Sakurai by Tokyo Sports in which Sakurai has less than friendly words for her challenger. In the article, Sakurai mentioned that the “the amount of muddy water we’ve waded through is different” which alluded to Yuzuki having an easier ascension than what Sakurai had to go through.
Yuzuki took exception to this and responded to the Tokyo Sports article post on X.
From Victoria Yuzuki:
The amount of muddy water we’ve waded through may differ. But the one raising their hand on the ring at the end—that’s the strongest. They say rain falls on days Mai Sakurai gets fired up, so I checked the forecast for the 26th. Rain was predicted. Seems the battle’s already begun. But I have no intention of letting Mai Sakurai take everything. Even if it rains outside, I’ll prove my brilliance on the ring outshines hers. I’ll unleash golden light in the golden garden. On this day, I’ll end the era of the storm-summoning woman. (Translated with DeepL.com)
Sakurai shot back at Yuzuki and threatened to break her nose when they meet on Oct. 26th.
From Mai Sakurai:
“The date has changed and it rained again yesterday. The forecast says it will rain today and tomorrow too.
I guess it’s my obsession. I’ll break Yuzuki’s arrogant nose. It would be unbearable if a new era of stupid commoners came about. I won’t give up my position as the noble champion.” (Translated via Google translate)
The fans in attendance at Ryogoku Kokugikan and all watching on Wrestle Universe via PPV can expect an all-out war when Mai Sakurai defends her United National Championship against Victoria Yuzuki on Oct. 26th at Marigold’s GRAND DESTINY 2025.
