The Best of Super Juniors 32 winner Kosei Fujita had been waiting patiently to see if he would be facing El Desperado or Jun Kasai for the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship.
For Fujita, the wait is over as New Japan Pro-Wrestling confirmed today that El Desperado will defend his IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title against Fujita on July 6th.
The championship bout will take place on the final night of the New Japan Soul tour at the famed Korakuen Hall.
Fujita, who was the youngest winner ever of the BOSJ tournament, could have asked for his title opportunity immediately. With El Desperado’s desire to defend his belt against Jun Kasai, Fujita decided to wait as he wanted Desperado focused only on him.
Fujita only has to wait ten more days until he gets his much desired and deserved IWGP Jr Heavyweight Championship opportunity.
Two other matches have been confirmed for July 6th at New Japan Soul.
SHO & DOUKI will defend their IWGP Jr Heavyweight Tag Team Championship against the team of SHO & Master Wato.
In addition, Hiroshi Tanahashi’s Last Road continues as he faces Tiger Mask in a singles bout.
