Konami Challenges IWGP Women’s Champion Sareee To A Title Match For August 23rd, Sareee Accepts

After winning the IWGP Women’s Title back on June 21st, it appears Sareee will be making her first defense of the championship.

On Aug. 20th, Konami challenged Sareee at the STARDOM 5★STAR GP 2025 playoffs and quarter-finals stage in front of a sold out crowd at Korakuen Hall. Sareee had been defeated by Konami’s H.A.T.E. fellow faction member Momo Watanabe in a quarter-final bout when Konami entered ring and made her championship challenge. The crowd was solidly behind Konami as they chanted her name in unison when she challenged Sareee.

From Konami:

“Hey Sareee! You’re really hated in STARDOM, aren’t you? Hey! All you STARDOM fans! Do you all hate Sareee? I’m jealous that you’re so hated in STARDOM! For someone as pitiful as you, I’ll give you a chance to redeem yourself. On August 23 at Ota Ward, let me challenge for that IWGP title you’re holding! Well, someone as hated as you has no choice but to accept, right?”

The H.A.T.E. faction members proceeded to attack Sareee as Konami spray painted Sareee’s face black. An enraged Sareee accepted Konami’s challenge for Aug. 23rd.

From Sareee:

“Hey! I’ll do it! On August 23rd in Ota Ward, I’ll put the IWGP on the line against you. Remember that, you one-day heroine!”

Konami and Sareee met each other in the opening night of the STARDOM 5★STAR GP 2025 tournament back on July 27th in a heated bout. The match was won by Konami as she locked Sareee in a Doujime Sleeper Hold that resulted in a referee stoppage.

As of this writing, the IWGP Women’s Title match has not yet been made official by STARDOM for Aug. 23rd.
