The third defense of Kento Miyahara’s seventh reign as the All Japan Pro-Wrestling champion is set as he will put the title on the line on against former champion Yuma Anzai. The championship bout is set for Dec. 31st at National Yoyogi Stadium Second Gymnasium and will be the featured match for AJPW’s New Year’s Eve 2025 event.
This is good news for Anzai as he had to exit the ongoing AJPW Real World Tag League 2025 tournament as his partner Yuma Aoyagi was suspended for 3 months due to a traffic collision incident. Anzai had challenged Miyahara on Nov. 28th for the Triple Crown belt and now he gets his opportunity on Dec. 31st.
Anzai will be looking to regain the title he held from Mar. 30, 2024 t0 Aug. 17 2024. Coincidently, Anzai successfully defended the Triple Crown title against Miyahara in May 2024. This could give Anzai a psychological edge going into the Dec. 31 bout with Miyahara.
Anzai posted a few comments on X and vowed to win the AJPW Triple Crown Title.
From Yuma Anzai:
The New Year’s Eve Triple Crown Match is set. I’ll fight my own way, just as I please. People keep saying I’ll change the era, but I believe there’s a view only I can show, a place only I can reach. I will become the Triple Crown Champion. (Translated via Deepl)
The Kento Miyahara vs Yuma Anzai bout for the Triple Crown Title is the first match confirmed for AJPW’s New Year’s Eve 2025 event. AJPW will revealed more bouts for the event in the near future.
