Kento Miyahara Retains the AJPW Triple Crown Title for 10th Straight Successful Defense, Looks to Break Record in December

By: Lewis Carlan

On Oct. 22nd, All Japan Pro-Wrestling held it’s final event of the “RAISING AN ARMY MEMORIAL SERIES 2026” tour to commemorate 54 years of the promotion.

A sold out crowd of 1,454 fans were on hand at Korakuen Hall for the event which featured the AJPW Triple Crown Champion Kento Miyahara making his 10th defense of the title against Royal Road Tournament winner Ryuki Honda.

As expected, the championship bout between Miyahara and challenger Honda was highly competitive and evenly matched. Unfortunately for Honda, Miyahara was a little better than him on Oct. 22 and crushed Honda’s dream of becoming the AJPW Triple Crown Champion.

Miyahara ended the bout at the 23:56 mark with his patented finisher, the Shutdown Suplex.

With the victory, Miyahara achieved his 10th straight successful title defense. This accomplishment ties him with Toshiaki Kawada and himself for the most successful AJPW Triple Crown Championship defenses. Miyahara had 10 successful title defenses during his 4th reign as champion from Oct. 2018 through March 2020.

Now, Miyahara will be looking to break that record and that opportunity will come against a very familiar opponent.

Yuma Aoyagi, all dressed up in a suit, confronted Miyahara post-match and issued a challenge for the coveted title. Miyahara accepted and suggested the two battle it out on Dec. 31 at AJPW’s New Year’s Eve event.

All Japan Pro-Wrestling quickly made the bout official. On Dec. 31st, Kento Miyahara will look to make history by defending the AJPW Triple Crown Title successfully for the 11th straight time against Yuma Aoyagi.
