On May 18th, Kento Miyahara faced Rei Saito in the finals of the All Japan Pro-Wrestling Champion Carnival 2025 tournament. After a hard fought match by both competitors it was Saito who prevailed over Miyahara and earned the prestigious Champion Carnival Trophy and an opportunity to challenge for the AJPW Triple Crown Title.
Miyahara was hoping to win the Champion Carnival for the second year in a row and recently indicated that fans all over Japan were giving him encouragement and telling him to win.
The start of the evening for the Champion Carnival 2025 event on May 18th got off to a good start for Miyahara as he defeated Ryuki Honda in the semi-finals to punch his ticket to the finals. Unfortunately he ran into a very determined Rei Saito who crushed Miyahara’s hope of getting another opportunity to win the Triple Crown Title for the seventh time in his career.
The loss was a major disappointment for Miyahara who is looking to get back as AJPW’s top champion. He took to X yesterday and issued a comment to his fans vowing to reach the top again soon.
From Kento Miyahara:
“I didn’t win the Champion Carnival. But I’m not like this. That’s what I always think. I will definitely get to the top again. Thank you again to all my fans today.”
In another post on X, Miyahara offered a “good morning” to his fans and stated that he is going to start working hard again beginning today.
Miyahara may be a six time AJPW Triple Crown Champion but he hasn’t held the title for over two years. He hopes to end that championship drought soon. Miyahara has been the top star for AJPW for over almost a decade and there are a number of other stars such as Yuma Anzai, Yuma Aoyagi and Rei Saito that would love to replace Miyahara in that role. The only problem is Miyahara isn’t ready to relinquish the number one spot in AJPW just yet and, as indicated today on social media, he is now working harder than ever to remain there.
