On Dec. 16, Tokyo Sports announced the winners of the 2025 Puroresu awards. There were a number of young stars still in their 20’s that were recipients of the much sought after Tokyo Sports awards.
They included:
Pro Wrestling NOAH superstar KENOH took to his YouTube channel and pointed out the younger age of many of the 2025 award winners.
KENOH stated that the younger stars have broken through and the new era has finally taken a step forward in the world of Puroresu.
The NOAH star also praised Saya Kamitani who was the first woman ever to win the Tokyo Sports MVP Award since its inception in 1974.
From KENOH:
“I really think the era has taken a step forward. Look at this, the MVP, the Match of the Year, and the Best Tag Team. Look at these. How old are they all? (Kamitani, OZAWA, Kiyomiya, Yuto-Ice, OSKAR) How old are they all? They’re all in their 20s, right? At last. At last, the era has moved. That’s what this is. At last, even they’ve (Tokyo Sports) realized it. It was all old guys before. They were just putting in old guys. They’ve created a breakthrough. Thank you, Kamitani. You really did a great job.” (H/T goes to meraWRESTLING for English quote translation)
As KENOH has pointed out, it’s very refreshing to see numerous young talented pro-wrestlers getting recognized for their stellar work.
With the likes of Saya Kamitani, OZAWA, OSKAR, Yuto-Ice etc., fans can expect a very entertaining 2026 in the world of Puroresu.
