IYO SKY Praises Marigold Following Her Electrifying Match With Mayu Iwatani, Says Marigold’s Future Is Bright

Marigold’s GRAND DESTINY 2025 at Ryogoku Kokugikan is in the books as the event was considered a huge success from start to finish.

The main event match featured a long awaited and highly anticipated bout between WWE superstar IYO SKY and Icon Mayu Iwatani. This encounter was seven years in the making and the two did not disappoint.

The two superstars were expected to have a spectacular bout and SKY & Iwatani delivered on what was expected. From the opening bell, SKY & Iwatani proved why they are two of the very best pro wrestlers on the planet. The crowd in attendance at the Ryogoku Kokugikan were electric throughout the entire match. SKY emerged victorious over Iwatani with a moonsault press from the top rope as the bout ended at the 26:28 mark.

Following the bout, IYO SKY had post-match comments in which she said that Marigold felt like a second home to her. SKY said she was able to savor every moment of her match with Iwatani.

“I’m really happy to be able to have a match like this. After a match like this, I truly feel from the bottom of my heart how glad I am to be a pro wrestler. I’ve been wrestling for a long time, and after going to America, my career in Japan may have come to a halt, but thanks to people like Mayu Iwatani, and not just those in Marigold, but also AZM and Momo Watanabe in STARDOM, and everyone else I’ve spent time with, who are all working hard, I don’t need to build my own career anymore; they can create these amazing matches. There’s nothing happier than that, right? Anyway, Marigold is only in its second year since its founding, so it’s completely unrelated to me, but it turned out that it wasn’t unrelated at all. Just like Mayu said, it felt like a family home, a second home. I was able to savor every moment of the match. WWE is my home, and I felt like this place is also my homeland and my home. I received some lovely comments from Mayu, and it warmed my heart. Thank you.”

In addition, SKY thanked Iwatani as she stated she competed at GRAND DESTINY 2025 because of Iwatani. SKY indicated that Marigold’s future is bright and congratulated the new Marigold World Champion Miku Aono.
