Into New Heights: Kento Miyahara on His Mission in AJPW in 2026

By: Pep S. Caro

All Japan Pro Wrestling is starting the 2026 strong with Kento Miyahara as Triple Crown Champion and very good attendance numbers in Yoyogi and a two consecutive Korakuen Hall shows. After defeating Yuma Anzai in AJPW NEW YEAR’s EVE 2025, now Miyahara is set to defend the Top Prize in All Japan against one half of the AJPW World Tag Team Champions, Titans of Calamity’s Talos.

Three weeks before participating in the title defense, I was able to talk with Kento Miyahara and he was very kind to answer all the questions that covered a variety of topics related to his present in AJPW, including some important matches of 2025 and what he wants to achieve as champion in 2026.

Monthly Puroresu: You reached the final of the Champions Carnival 2025 tournament but lost to Rei Saito. What were your thoughts on your participation in last year’s tournament?

Kento Miyahara: I missed out on winning the Champions Carnival, but now I’ve been able to return as champion, so I want to remain champion forever in 2026.

Monthly Puroresu: You won the Oudou 2025 tournament after defeating Ryuki Honda in the final. What were your thoughts on your participation in last year’s tournament?

Kento Miyahara: That’s right. Defeating Honda, who represents this new era, was a great tournament for me, as it allowed me to ride that wave and become champion again.

Monthly Puroresu: You defeated Jun Saito in September and won the Triple Crown Championship again. What are your goals as Champion?

Kento Miyahara: In 2026, I want to remain champion as a triple crown champion all year long.

Monthly Puroresu: Your first title defense was against Go Shiozaki in October. What are your thoughts on Shiozaki as a competitor now?

Kento Miyahara: Shiozaki will also be joining us in 2026, so I think the battle with him will continue for a while longer.

Monthly Puroresu: Your second title defense was against Hokuto Omori in November. What are your thoughts on the match? What are your thoughts on Omori as a competitor now?

Kento Miyahara: By the way, Hokuto Omori is from Sapporo, so I’m sure many fans were pushing for him hard to make it home at his hometown, but I don’t think he can catch up with me just yet.

Monthly Puroresu: You finished the 2025 Real World Tag League with 6 points, teaming with Davey Boy Smith Jr. What were your impressions of your participation in last year’s tournament?

Kento Miyahara: I believe that teaming up with Davey Boy Smith Jr. is a dream come true, so I would like to continue working together to give dreams to people all over the world as a team.

Monthly Puroresu: You finished 2025 by defeating Yuma Anzai in your third title defense. What are your thoughts on the match?

Kento Miyahara: Anzai is a wrestler in his 20s and a representative wrestler, so I think he’s a wrestler who will carry the world of professional wrestling on his shoulders in the future.

Monthly Puroresu: For the second year in a row, All Japan’s final event of the year featured a match between Miyahara and Anzai as one of the main attractions. Do you think Anzai is becoming your main rival in All Japan?

Kento Miyahara: That’s right. Anzai is, of course, a representative wrestler in his 20s, but I think he’ll become an even more incredible wrestler in the future, so I think he’ll become a star wrestler.

Monthly Puroresu: Next challenger is Talos on January 25. What are your thoughts on that upcoming match?

Kento Miyahara: At 2 meters 13 centimeters, I think he will be the tallest challenger in the history of Triple Crown matches, so I’m already thinking about what kind of strategy I should come up with to defend my title.

Monthly Puroresu: In February, Miyahara will celebrate 18 years as a professional wrestler. What are your expectations for 2026?

Kento Miyahara: Since it’s my 18th anniversary, in 2026 I’d like to first break the record for most title defenses and beat my own previous record. To do that, I want to keep wearing the belt forever.

Monthly Puroresu: We’d like to learn a little more about Miyahara. Could you tell us about your hobbies?

Kento Miyahara: Well, I love Japanese ramen, so my hobby is going around eating ramen.

Monthly Puroresu: What kind of ramen do you like?

Kento Miyahara: My favorite ramen is tonkotsu ramen. I’m from Fukuoka, so it’s tonkotsu ramen.

Monthly Puroresu: When you don’t have a match or wrestling event, what’s a typical day like for you?

Kento Miyahara: I usually run a YouTube channel, so I film videos for YouTube and do things like that.

Monthly Puroresu: Do you have any YouTube channel that you watch regularly?

Kento Miyahara: On YouTube, I usually watch the Kameda Shiro channel.

Monthly Puroresu: Thank you for participating in this interview. To conclude, do you have a message for your fans?

Kento Miyahara: I’ll do my best to help all my fans, all my global fans, continue to defend the All Japan Pro Wrestling Triple Crown Championship during the whole 2026. Everyone around the world, please keep your eyes on me, Kento Miyahara.
