NJPW rounded out the A Block in the Super Jr. Tag League, with the main event of Night 7 deciding who would advance to the finals in Gifu. Two teams had perfect records heading into this night, but it was the reigning IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Champions that walked out as the A Block finalists.
It was a battle of the current champions and the former champions. The division’s double champion DOUKI and SHO had swept through the field, coming into the night with a spotless 4-0 record. The former tag champions, Master Wato and YOH, had also won all their previous block matches, tying both teams on 8 points.
However, the House of Torture representatives would claim victory, completing a perfect 5-0 block run. The winners of B Block are yet to be decided, with 3 duos still in mathematical contention. The other set of finalists will be decided on Saturday, November 1st, with the tournament finals taking place at the NJPW Hiroshi Tanahashi Final Homecoming show. The event will also see Tanahashi challenge Yota Tsuji for the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship, as well as Konosuke Takeshita making his first defence of the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against Hirooki Goto.
