Hayabusa Says New Finisher is Eiji Ezaki’s Falcon Arrow, Evolved

By: Ian McCord

Pro Wrestling ZERO1’s Hayabusa picked up one of the biggest wins of his career on June 13th, defeating Katsuhiko Nakajima in the opening round of the 2026 Fire Festival while unveiling his new finishing move, the Wrist Clutch Falcon Arrow.

This rendition of the character stepped into his role as Hayabusa in April of 2025, and has spent the past year using the Firebird Splash as his finishing maneuver, to stick with the high-flying style that the original Hayabusa, Eiji Ezaki, was known for.

In an interview with Tokyo Sports, Hayabusa discussed why he changed his finishing move to this new version of the Falcon Arrow, and what inspired him to do so.

From Hayabusa:

“Mr. Ezaki’s Hayabusa finishing moves were more often the Falcon Arrow than the Firebird Splash. I believe these are moves that Mr. Ezaki developed himself. However, the audience’s image of Hayabusa is the Firebird. So, while I’ve been using the Firebird for the past year, I wanted to use the Falcon Arrow starting next year, so I made some improvements to make it even more powerful.”

Hayabusa, who has been very open about the pressures that have come with donning the mask, went on to say that he felt he needed to change something in his game, but rather than doing something drastic, he chose to enhance and evolve a move that Eiji Ezaki made famous.

From Hayabusa:

“I felt I had to change something this year, but rather than just making a drastic change, I wanted to evolve while inheriting the legacy of Mr. Ezaki’s Hayabusa.”

Hayabusa concluded the interview saying he plans to keep using his new wrist clutch variation of the Falcon Arrow in big matches, since it has proven its destructive power having been the move to defeat his rival Katsuhiko Nakajima.

From Hayabusa:

“I want to keep using this as my finishing move in crucial moments. Since I beat Nakajima, its destructive power has been proven. I’ll continue using it with confidence.”

Katsuhiko Nakajima posted a video highlighting his match with Hayabusa from the Fire Festival’s opening round on June 13th, with Hayabusa’s new finisher being highlighted at the (1:08) time stamp.

With a win over his rival and a new and improved finishing maneuver, Hayabusa seems to be gaining the momentum and confidence he needs to win ZERO1’s Fire Festival for a second time. Hayabusa’s next match in the tournament is on July 4th, taking on Koji Doi at Azalea Taisho Hall in Osaka.

2026 Fire Festival action continues on June 21st at Juroku Plaza Hall in Gifu.
