The big news coming out of Pro Wrestling NOAH was that Go Shiozaki has departed the promotion he has spent the last 20 years competing in.
NOAH made the announcement today indicating that after discussions, the decision had been made to part ways with the five time GHC Heavyweight Champion.
Shiozaki took to social media and released a statement regarding his decision to leave Pro Wrestling NOAH.
From Go Shiozaki:
“My days as a professional wrestler have been filled with the determination to risk my life and put my body on the line. At times, I was shaken by misunderstandings and harsh criticism, and felt frustrated. I am truly grateful to my teammates and staff who have fought alongside me up until now. Thank you very much. And above all, I have been able to continue fighting this far thanks to all the fans who have always cheered me on. Thank you so much. From now on, I will continue to take on challenges in places where I am needed. I hope you will continue to support Go Shiozaki in the future.” (Translated via Google Translate)
Another all time Pro Wrestling NOAH great Naomichi Marufuji weighed in on the development and issued a statement of his own that included some advice for Shiozaki.
From Naomichi Marufuji:
“September 23rd at Korakuen Hall.
I don’t think he understood, but I pointed to the NOAH logo in the middle of the ring with a lot of meaning in mind. I’ll never put a Noah jersey on his shoulders again. Don’t do things half-heartedly. Stay alive. For now, bye-bye.” (Translation via Google Translate)
Go Shiozaki made his Pro Wrestling NOAH debut back on June 26, 2004 when he competed in a Battle Royal at the NOAH Accomplish Our Fourth Navigation 2004 event.
In addition to holding the GHC Heavyweight Championship five times, he has held the GHC Tag Team Championship on seven different occasions.
