Champions Survive In The Day 1 Of DDT Wrestle Peter Pan 2025

By: Pep S. Caro

DDT held Day 1 of Wrestle Peter Pan 2025, its big summer event. The card featured several championship matches, some returns, and a debut. The main event was a match between Kazusada Higuchi and Jun Akiyama for the KO-D Openweight Championship.

  1. HARASHIMA defeats Hinata Kasai
  2. Shinichiro Kawamatsu & Yuki Ishida defeat Rukiya & Soma Takao
  3. Danshoku Dino defeats Antonio Honda and Kazuki Hirata
  4. DAMNATION T.A (Ilusion & MJ Paul) & Haruto Sakuraba defeat Akito, Daichi Sato & Naomi Yoshimura
  5. Kumadori & Strange Love Connection (KANON & MAO) defeat Kazuma Sumi, Shinya Aoki & Yuki Ueno
  6. DDT Extreme Title Earn Your Own Life! Wrestling Life Or Death: To-y (c) defeats Yuya Koroku
  7. Minoru Suzuki defeats Muscle Sakai
  8. TMDK (Kosei Fujita & Zack Sabre Jr.) defeat Schadenfreude International (Chris Brookes & Takeshi Masada)
  9. KO-D Tag Team Title: The Apex (Yuki Iino & Yukio Naya) (c) defeat DAMNATION T.A (Daisuke Sasaki & Hideki Okatani)
  10. KO-D Openweight Title: Kazusada Higuchi (c) defeats Jun Akiyama

In the first match, Hinata, son of Jun Kasai, made his professional debut against Harashima. The veteran former DDT KO-D Openweight Champion won easily, but the young Kasai still showed his skills. A very special match for the DDT fandom as another young talent starts his journey in pro wrestling.

In the second match, Kawamatsu and Ishida defeated Rukiya and Takao. A quick-paced match in which Ishida and Kawamatsu prevailed in a promotional match. In the third match, Dino defeated Honda and Hirata in an entertaining bout. Although the offense was mostly led by Honda and Hirata, Dino returned at just the right moments to complement them with the comedic timing of the match and take the victory.

In the forth match, DAMNATION T.A defeated Akito, Sato, and Yoshimura. Sakuraba put in a strong performance, gaining more and more confidence as a DDT wrestler and aligning himself with the company’s heel faction. In the fifth match, Kumadori and Strange Love Connection defeated Ueno, Aoki, and Sumi. It was an entertaining and fun fight. Kumadori was able to shine, and we saw exchanges between MAO and Ueno, who had previously expressed interest in facing each other now that they are no longer part of the same faction.

In the sixth match, To-y defeated Koroku to retain the DDT Extreme Championship. It was an entertaining match in which To-y extended his title lead over Koroku. After the match, Illusion appeared and challenged To-y. We’ll see the title match in September. In the seventh match, Suzuki defeated Sakai. It was a short but entertaining match that also included a special appearance by Dino. After the match, Suzuki showed his respect for Sakai by attacking him in the crowd.

In the eighth match, TMDK defeated Schadenfreude International. It was a good tag team match with the dynamic of foreign veterans supporting young Japanese wrestlers. Team NJPW took the victory, but all participants were left wanting more. After the match, Brookes challenged Sabre Jr. to a one-on-one match. Sabre Jr. accepted, and they will face each other on November 3 at Ultimate Party 2025.

In the ninth match, The Apex defeated DAMNATION T.A. to retain the KO-D Tag Team Championships. It was a good match between both teams. The champions managed to overcome Sazaki and Okatani’s tricks to achieve another successful defense. A great moment for Iino and Naya.

In the main event, Higuchi defeated Akiyama to retain the KO-D Openweight Championship. A good match, full of strong strikes. They took their time developing the match, but that allowed for fluid execution. Higuchi managed to get his revenge and will now have to defend the championship against Ueno on Day 2 of Wrestle Peter Pan.
