NJPW took the G1 Climax to the Yokohama Budokan for Day 13 of the tournament, with the B Block race staying tight. Callum Newman and Ren Narita both picked up important wins to get themselves tied on ten points at the top of the block.
Newman faced off against a fellow European in the form of OSKAR in the main event of the show. OSKAR’s power was a constant problem for the Brit, one that he needed to rely on his brains to overcome.
It was his wily nature that Newman’s victory came from. Distracting the referee, Newman struck OSKAR with a low blow and pulled him into a cradle pin, getting a three count on the giant German.
In the semi-main event, Narita came up against the man that House of Torture have been targeting since his debut back on January 4th, Aaron Wolf. Wolf took out Dick Togo at ringside before the match started, hoping to even the odds. Even with the help of Tatsuya Matsumoto, the House of Torture still intervened. Togo would be vital in the bout, assisting with a Magic Killer on Wolf before Narita locked in kneelock on Wolf, having constantly attacked that joint all match. Wolf was forced to tap and Narita gained two points.
Now, Newman and Narita have a total of ten points, joining Gabe Kidd at the top of B Block.
Yuya Uemura kept his prospects alive with an important win of HENARE, the Lion Shiner proving to be the deciding blow that put his United Empire opponent away. Meanwhile, the night’s block action began with Zack Sabre Jr. getting the better of his fellow countryman, Drilla Maloney. ZSJ caught him in a roll-up, pinning him to the mat for a three count to rise to six points on the leaderboard.
