AZM Looks To Become A Symbol Of STARDOM, Names Who She’d Nominate As Her First Challenger If She Wins The World Of STARDOM Title

In just a few short hours, the NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion AZM will face the World of STARDOM Champion Saya Kamitani in a highly anticipated double title match at a sold out Korakuen Hall.

AZM did some soul searching ahead of her huge double title match with Kamitani. She paid a visit to the Yoyogi National Gymnasium No. 2. It was at this venue that defunct Queen’s Quest, the unit AZM and Kamitani once were teammates in, had disbanded. AZM stated that that she had a deep bond with Queen’s Quest and the unit was like family to her.

AZM spoke with Tokyo Sports and discussed the strength possessed by Kamitani heading into their double title match. She also touched upon the media activities that Kamitani has been doing and how there are no envious feelings on the part of AZM due to this.

From AZM:

“Even though she’s older than me, she had a strong junior feel to her, and I saw her working hard, so she was a junior I couldn’t take my eyes off of. Now she’s correcting her weakness, her kindness, with her own strength, and I think that’s amazing. I don’t envy Kamitani’s media activities, and I’m grateful because I can’t do that. I think it’s my role to keep the fans that Kamitani brings in, so I want to compete in that area.”

AZM revealed the competitor she plans on nominating as her first challenger should she dethrone Kamitani and become the new World of STARDOM Champion.

She mentioned the IWGP Women’s Champion Sareee as the individual she would pick as her first challenger due to the Sareee being critical of STARDOM over the past few months. AZM said she wants to beat Sareee and become a symbol of STARDOM.

From AZM:

”First of all, I want to beat Sareee. She’s been making a lot of noise about Stardom and Kamitani, and in 5★STAR it was always heels like Momo Watanabe and Konami who stood up to Sareee. I want to raise my voice here and beat Sareee. Then I will become the symbol of Stardom.”

While AZM has mentioned how she wants to beat Sareee and become a symbol of STARDOM, her absolute number one focus should be Saya Kamitani. Sareee should not be anywhere near her thoughts at this moment.

AZM is heading into the double title match with confidence after scoring a pinfall win over Kamitani at the 5 STAR GP 2025 semi-finals.  But she needs to keep in mind that Kamitani remains an incredibly dangerous champion who is willing to win at all costs.
