Back on June 19th, All Japan Pro-Wrestling made the announcement that one of their brightest and best young superstars Yuma Anzai was going to take a hiatus from in-ring competition that would last from July 1st through August 31st. Anzai’s faction ELPIDA which included Ryuki Honda, Rising HAYATO and Ren Ayabe made the decision to disband during Anzai’s absence.
In an announcement that many AJPW fans have been waiting for, Anzai’s hiatus has ended and it was confirmed that he will be returning to competition on Sept. 23rd at the Arena Tachikawa Tachihi in Tokyo. His return opponent has not been named and it’s unclear whether it will be a singles or tag team match-up.
Anzai’s return to AJPW will be a huge boost for the promotion as he had become extremely popular amongst the fans and will add an immediate contender to the Triple Crown Title picture.
Anzai took to X and made these comments on his return to action:
From Yuma Anzai:
“Everyone, I’m very sorry for keeping you waiting so long. And thank you so much to those who have been waiting all this time!! I’ll fight with all my strength again starting from the 9.23 Tachikawa event.”
Anzai, 26, debuted for AJPW back in Sept. 2022 and was immediately considered to be the future of the promotion. He proved that notion to be correct as Anzai had become one of the top stars in AJPW in just three years. Anzai is a former Triple Crown Champion in which he held the prestigious title for nearly five months from March 30, 2024 through Aug. 17, 2024. Anzai made five successful title defenses during his reign as champion, with his biggest victories coming against Kento Miyahara and Suwama.
Yuma Anzai is also a former All Asia Tag Team Champion with Rising HAYATO. The two held the titles for 245 days and made six successful title defenses as the reigning champions.
